For our first talk in 2016, we invited Music Therapist, Vivian Lok, resident music therapist at Kiang Wu Hospital in Macau, to share with us how music therapy can be utilized at hospitals in improving the overall well-being of patients and better rehabilitation.
The talk was a great success - we had a keen and enthusiastic audience, including some music and medical students and we had learnt much technical information from Vivian, too.
'Hospital' and 'Music' are two words that don't seem to be have much to do with each; and yet recent clinical studies shows that music therapy shows a great improvement on medical treatments at hospitals. How can music therapy help? What about voluntary music performances? Are they also regarded as music therapy? How are they different from music therapist? What is the role of music therapists in hospitals and how do they help the patients?
Ms Vivian Lok, resident Music Therapist of Kiang Wu Hospital will be sharing her expertise in this field in her talk.
